Digital transformation does not happen overnight. In the legal context, where changes must be measured, secure and aligned with the business, the key is not only to adopt technology, but to know how to manage it strategically.

From our experience we have learned that the firms that advance the most, in our region and globally, are not the ones that buy more technology, but the ones that manage it better.

Where to start?

  1. Diagnose clearly.

You cannot manage what you do not understand. It is essential to assess the firm's digital maturity level: current tools, key processes, digital culture, risks and gaps.

  1. Design a technology roadmap.

This should be staggered, with a focus on impact and sustainability. Include quick wins, adoption milestones and clear metrics. It is not a matter of modernizing everything at once, but of moving forward with operational and legal logic.

  1. Appoint those responsible for digital evolution.

Whether it is an internal CIO, a transformation committee or an external consultant, IT management cannot remain a secondary issue.

Recommendations for managing this evolution well:

- Create a shared vision with partners and leaders.

- Do not saturate the team with technology: accompany, train, measure.

- Avoid technological islands: everything must be integrated with real processes.

- Define IT policies and governance: clear rules, visible responsibilities.

- Align each technology with the value it brings to the end customer.

At Lexantria, we help law firms take control of their technological evolution with planning, governance and strategic vision.
