Generative AI (such as ChatGPT, Copilot or similar) is already transforming the way you work in the legal sector. But it is not about using it for fashion, but to do it with strategy, vision and responsibility.
Many law firms in Latin America are beginning to explore its use, but still with reasonable doubts:
🔹 What tasks can I automate without compromising legal quality?
🔹 How do I protect confidential client information?
🔹 Is my team ready for this change?
Here I share with you some key aspects, from my experience, for a smart adoption:
1. Start with clear and controlled use cases. Document review, drafting or legal briefs are good starting points. Evaluate the impact and adjust.
Define internal responsible use policies. Set clear limits on what can and cannot be done with AI, especially in relation to sensitive or confidential data.
3. Invest in training. AI does not replace lawyers, but lawyers who know how to use it will have a big advantage. Train your team to understand it and use it judiciously.
4. Evaluate secure tools adapted to the legal sector. Prioritize solutions that meet privacy and security standards and, if possible, are oriented to the legal world.
5. Measure, learn and improve. Each firm has its own rhythm. Measure results, listen to the team and adapt the strategy.
Generative AI does not come to replace legal judgment, but to enhance it. The firms that understand this, and act responsibly, will be the ones to lead this new stage of law.
